The WB Stays 'True' to 'Will & Grace' Scribe Always on the lookout for potential comedy hits, The WB has given a cast-contingent pilot order to "True," a comedy from writer-producer Kari Lizer. The project, which represents The WB's first development commitment with new Entertainment President David Janollari, will be produced at Warner Bros. TV. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series focuses on a woman in her late 20s who decides to refocus her life after becoming pregnant, breaking up with her boyfriend and moving back in with her parents. "She is a late bloomer and not much of a grown-up who, because of the baby, has to now grow up fast and find a real job," Lizer tells the HR.As an actress, Lizer's credits included roles in immortal 1980s films like "Gotcha!" and "Private School" as well as a stint on "Matlock." Since making the move to writing, Lizer has worked on comedies including "Boston Common" and "Maggie Winters." She's spent the past four years on NBC's "Will & Grace," moving up to co-executive producer in recent seasons (in addition to making uncredited cameos), earning three Emmy nominations.Lizer first worked with Janollari on "Winters," which was produced by the Greenblatt Janollari Studio. That show only lasted 16 episodes, but the new WB exec remembered Lizer when "True" came across his desk."It was her voice through and through, which I had always been a fan of, and a perfect show for us, a great family show with a strong young adult female lead at the center of it and a wonderful romantic comedy," he explains.
